Cam’s Hidden Snicketways – Updated and Reimagined
Cam’s much-loved snicketways – those charming little paths and alleys that quietly connect our community – have been given a beautiful new update!
In summer 2024, Cam Parish Council commissioned a creative and community-minded graphic designer to breathe new life into our parish map. Thanks to secured funding, we now have a fresh, vibrant, and easy-to-use map that highlights Cam’s hidden walkways, play areas, green spaces, and key landmarks. The maps have now been launched, and you can collect your very own copy from the Cam Parish Council offices, or download and print from the link below.
The new map was produced in print (A0 and A4), digital formats, and even a black-and-white version for a fun community colouring competition – bringing neighbours of all ages together. The competition has now closed, but you can still download and print a copy if you would like one!
Did you know? The word snicket comes from the old English “snican”, meaning “to creep.” Many of Cam’s snicketways are ancient footpaths that once served as shortcuts—and still do—linking homes, schools, churches, and community hubs.
This project helped us celebrate Cam’s unique character and growing community—one snicket at a time!
