Cam Parish Council is delighted to celebrate the success of this summer’s Cam Otter Trail, which saw members of the community young and old alike getting outdoors, exploring the parish and searching for some mischievous otters along the way!
Launched for the 2026 summer holidays, the first ever Cam Otter Trail (#CamOtterSpotter) encouraged families, residents and visitors to explore Cam and discover a playful collection of otters located at 10 different businesses across the parish. The local businesses who generously homed an otter for the summer, got involved in many ways, sharing photos and videos, distributing stickers and engaging with our Otter Spotters, helping to make the trail a real community-wide adventure.
The response was fantastic, with more than 450 illustrated trail maps distributed throughout the project. From young adventurers excited to spot every otter and collect some stickers, to families and older members of the community enjoying the opportunity to explore their local area, the trail brought people together throughout the summer.
Cam Parish Council would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, as well as the fantastic local businesses who helped bring the trail to life. It has been wonderful to see so many people embracing the adventure and making the most of everything our beautiful parish has to offer. An extra special thank you to TJ Wire Precision for manufacturing and fitting the custom bases to our otters.
The Cam Otter Trail has shown just how much can be achieved when a community comes together. With hundreds of maps handed out and so many residents getting involved, it was truly an otterly brilliant summer adventure!
And while the summer trail may have come to an end, we wouldn’t be too quick to say goodbye to our mischievous otter friends just yet… Keep your eyes peeled, you never know when they might make another appearance!
