Cam Parish Council is undertaking improvement works at Jubilee Playing Field to address parking challenges and improve access to the site. The second car park—currently used only on football match days—will be cleared and resurfaced with permeable Type 1 MOT material. In addition, the access road from the playing field will be upgraded and will include a designated passing point for vehicles.
This project follows feedback from local residents regarding limited on-site parking and the resulting congestion in nearby residential streets. As part of its ongoing investment in green spaces, the council commissioned the work to improve safety, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience at the 16-acre site.
The scheme will also incorporate drainage infrastructure and trunking to support potential future installations.
Stroud District Council has awarded £20,000 to the project through its Rural England Prosperity Fund, following a successful funding bid submitted by Cam Parish Council. The works are scheduled to begin in October and are expected to take up to six weeks to complete.
These upgrades follow Cam Parish Council’s recent £100,000 investment in securing the future of Cam Sports Club, further demonstrating the council’s commitment to enhancing local recreational facilities for the benefit of the community.
