It is with great sadness that Cam Parish Council announces the passing of serving Councillor and Chairman of the Planning and Highways Committee Councillor Dennis Andrewartha.
Alongside a successful political career at both district and county level, Dennis was elected onto Cam Parish Council in May 1999. During his many years of service, he made a huge impact on matters that were important to local people. He stood down in May 2016, leaving behind a strong record of achievement.
Dennis re-joined the Parish Council in January 2022. This was a time of rapid development in Cam and Dennis used his experience and knowledge to help ease residents’ concerns about this growth and to offer reassurance. He was elected Chairman of the Planning and Highways Committee, working closely with Councillor Mike Grimshaw as his Vice Chair.
Dennis was a much-loved and highly respected councillor who consistently placed the community at the heart of everything he did. His wisdom, kindness and sense of public duty made a profound impact on those who served alongside him and on the residents he worked so hard to represent.
Cam Parish Council extends its heartfelt condolences to Dennis’s devoted wife Celia, his loving children and the grandchildren he adored.
He will be remembered not only for his service, but as a true gentleman whose legacy will continue to shape the parish he called home.
