Draycott Phone Box Restoration Project – Community Update

We’re delighted to share a positive update on the restoration of the Draycott telephone kiosk — a project that continues to bring new life and purpose to a much-loved local landmark.

In August 2025, P&H carried out a full audit of local telephone kiosks and identified the Draycott box as a priority for restoration due to its condition. Alongside this, an exciting vision was agreed: to relocate the kiosk outside the CPC office, transforming it into a vibrant community asset. Plans include its use as an information point, a lending library, and a site for a potentially life-saving defibrillator.

To ensure a high-quality restoration, specialist company Phone Box Restorations was appointed by L Carr Contractors. Since then, the project has gone from strength to strength. In January 2026, the kiosk was officially recognised for its importance by being added to the SDC Parish Heritage Assets list — a fantastic acknowledgment of its historical value.

The kiosk was carefully removed in February 2026 and is currently undergoing restoration. We’re pleased to say that its return is expected very soon, and we’re eagerly awaiting its arrival back in the village.

Looking ahead, bespoke shelving will be installed to support the lending library, helping to create a welcoming and practical space for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone involved in supporting this project — we’re excited to see this iconic feature restored and repurposed for the benefit of the whole community.

CiL Project Proposal Form
This must be as shown on your governing document. Your governing document could be called one of several things, depending on the type of organisation you’re applying on behalf of. It might be called a constitution, trust deed, memorandum and articles of association, or something else entirely.
