Cam Parish Council has completed the purchase of the Cam Sports Club grounds using £100,000 from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), securing the long-term future of the site for community use.
The land will continue to be managed and maintained by Cam Sports Club, as it has for many years. Previously operating under short-term leases, the club now has full freehold ownership, providing long-term stability for the organisation and its users.
To ensure permanent protection, the site will be registered with Fields in Trust. This legal designation restricts the land to sport and recreational use, safeguarding it from future development and ensuring it remains a community asset.
The funding was made available through CIL contributions from local housing developments. Due to the scale of recent growth in the area, Cam Parish Council is in a strong position to support projects that deliver lasting benefit to the community.
This investment reflects the council’s strategic use of CIL funds to enhance local infrastructure and protect valued community facilities for current and future residents.
