It is with much sadness that I have to announce the passing of Councillor Brian Whatling.
It is hard to imagine Cam Parish Council without Brian. Until this year, when he became ill, he had never missed a meeting in all the years he had served as a Councillor.
We had the honour of working with Brian whilst he held positions of leadership for many of those years as Chair of Council and Chair of the Planning and Highways committee throughout and more recently as Vice-Chair of Council.
Brian always had Cam and its residents in his focus and was always ready to help the community through his role on the Council.
He was a great mentor to Councillors, with a vast amount of experience and he helped me personally to step into the role of Chair after his extended period of office came to an end. Brian was dedicated to overseeing Planning and Highways in the Parish and attended his last meeting in September shortly before he died.
We shall all miss Brian and we hold him up as a great role model of someone who gave so much in his retirement years to public service. Brian was always there to help and will be sorely missed.
Staff and Councillors at Cam Parish Council have extended condolences to Brian’s family with our heartfelt warm wishes.
Christina Carter, Chair, Cam Parish Council.
